Stuff That Annoys Me, Pt.1
- Hidden tracks on an album — This was cool back in 1993 when I got my first CD player. Just the idea of being able to skip a track was fascinating to me back then. Compared to cassette tapes, the CD player made me feel like I was on the Jetsons. However, it is now 2008, and I don’t even own a CD player any more. I am instead listening to MP3s in iTunes on shuffle, and when suddenly my music goes silent, I am not happy. I am more than likely going to delete that MP3. There, you can have your hidden track back.
- Timed demos for sports games — I downloaded the demo for the new Euro 2008 soccer game on my Xbox 360. However, I don’t actually consider it a demo if I only get to play for 4 minutes before I get booted out to the menu. That’s like going to Baskin Robbins and asking for a sample, and they just run the back of the spoon across the ice cream and hand it to you. The fact that you already limited me to two teams I don’t like should be enough. I mean, I’m stuck playing one game mode, at one stadium, with one set of weather conditions. If I like the game even a little bit, then I would be motivated to buy it to unlock all that stuff. But then you only let me play two-minute halves. By the time I run the length of the field, I’ve already used a quarter of my time. And I’m supposed to decide to drop $60 on your game in that amount of time? Let me play a full game next time and maybe I’ll be more willing to buy. It’s the same game every year anyway.
Bonus - Stuff That Makes Me Happy — Wordpress 2.5… a built-in solution for embedding video and audio! Finally! Maybe I’ll ruin the internet by posting some of my guitar recordings.
PS — I feel kinda gross for writing such stereotypical blog dreck, but, I had to…
