    New RickRoll Candidates

RickRolled! If you visit a lot of social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit, then chances are you have been RickRolled at least once.  Just like internet memes of the past…  lolcats, lonelygirl15, the Star Wars kid…  the RickRoll has skyrocketed into popularity.  For the uninformed, to RickRoll someone is “to post a misleading link with a subject that promises to be exciting or interesting, but actually turns out to be the video for Rick Astley’s debut single, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.”  This song is your classic 80s one-hit wonder, and one of the cheesiest songs you’ll ever hear.  The danger comes in its catchiness… once you hear even just a few seconds of it, BAM it’s stuck in your head.  And the only way I know to get rid of a song stuck in my head is to listen to it… all the way through… start to finish.  Normally, that’s not a problem…  but Rick Astley is an evil genius, a musical mastermind whose dark plans are finally coming to fruition.

But, just like any other internet meme, this one is getting kind of tired.  The RickRoll is becoming less and less effective.  People are even admitting to enjoying the song.  Before it’s too late, I think we need to call in a few pinch hitters and give Rick Astley a break.  Here’s a few suggestions, just as catchy and just as painful as the original.  I hope for your own sake that you haven’t heard any of these before…

And just to be extra sinister, I’m not going to label these videos.  Pick your poison.  This is like an audio version of Russian Roulette, except there’s a round in every chamber.
