    MVP

MVPI know I’m biased, but Jimmy Rollins HAS to be the NL MVP this year.  If his performance in yesterday’s final, playoff-clinching game was not enough…  a single, an RBI triple, 2 steals, 2 runs…  consider this.  Rollins is only the fourth player in MLB history to join the 20-20-20-20 club, meaning he has eclipsed 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs, and 20 steals in one season.  That’s quite the achievement, but look at how his TOTAL numbers stack up against his three compadres in this elite club:

    • Wilfred Schulte - 30 doubles, 21 triples, 21 HR, 23 steals
    • Willie Mays - 26 doubles, 20 triples, 35 HR, 38 steals
    • Curtis Granderson - 38 doubles, 23 triples, 23 HR, 26 steals
    • Jimmy Rollins - 38 doubles, 20 triples, 30 HR, 41 steals

Just to be mentioned in the same breath as Willie Mays should be enough… but look at how his numbers compare to Willie’s and there’s NO way you can deny Rollins the MVP title.

As a bonus, he might just be psychic… “The Team to Beat”, indeed.
