Irish Music for Your St. Paddy’s Day

I always get in the mood for some good Irish music when St. Patrick’s Day comes around…   every year I think I download some Chieftains and listen for a week, then get tired of it.  Well, this year I decided to dig a little deeper and find some Irish music that I’d like to hear the whole year round.  Thanks to the magic of YouTube I’ve found lots of great stuff, both new and old, that I thought I should share.

    Van Morrison & the Chieftains
    Star of the County Down

    Paddy Reilly
    Spancil Hill

    The Dubliners
    The Wild Rover

    The Pogues
If I Should Fall from Grace with God

    Christy Moore & Shane MacGowan
    A Pair Of Brown Eyes

    Dropkick Murphys
    I’m Shipping Up To Boston

    Flogging Molly
    What’s Left Of The Flag

    Thin Lizzy
    Whiskey In The Jar

It’s not all truly traditional Irish music, but it has its roots there and they all sound great because of it.  If that’s not enough for you, XM Satellite Radio has XM Green Radio Ireland - 72 hours of Irish music - on channel 200 all this weekend.  You can sign up for a free trial and listen online, no strings attached.
