Mollies Red Ale
I’m hoping to pick up the ingredients for this recipe tomorrow at Mr. Steve’s Homebrew Supplies down by York. Â I’ve never been there but the place looks good from the pictures online, and people have nothing but good things to say about it.
This is my first “from scratch” recipe… I bought BeerSmith, picked the Red Ale style and just tried to fall into those guidelines. Â I hope it’s good
Edit: I checked out Mr. Steve’s today and it was great. They had everything you could need and the prices were fair. Also, the people there were very friendly. I had to change my recipe a bit because they didn’t have exactly the things I had planned for…. I had to get Caramunich malt instead of Munich, Roasted Barley instead of Chocolate Malt, and I think I got Crystal 90L instead of 80L, even though I didn’t update that. Either way, I think it will still turn out good but it might be a little closer to deep brown instead of red. You don’t brew beer for the looks though!Â

I tried this one at bottling and a week later… this is, hands down, THE best beer I have made in my homebrewing career. It’s not fully carbed yet, but in another week or two it will be ridiculous.
I love the fact that this recipe was basically an accident and it turned out so great.
