    Mollies Red Ale

I’m hoping to pick up the ingredients for this recipe tomorrow at Mr. Steve’s Homebrew Supplies down by York.  I’ve never been there but the place looks good from the pictures online, and people have nothing but good things to say about it.

This is my first “from scratch” recipe… I bought BeerSmith, picked the Red Ale style and just tried to fall into those guidelines.  I hope it’s good :)

Edit:  I checked out Mr. Steve’s today and it was great.  They had everything you could need and the prices were fair.  Also, the people there were very friendly.  I had to change my recipe a bit because they didn’t have exactly the things I had planned for…. I had to get Caramunich malt instead of Munich, Roasted Barley instead of Chocolate Malt, and I think I got Crystal 90L instead of 80L, even though I didn’t update that.  Either way, I think it will still turn out good but it might be a little closer to deep brown instead of red.  You don’t brew beer for the looks though!

I tried this one at bottling and a week later… this is, hands down, THE best beer I have made in my homebrewing career. It’s not fully carbed yet, but in another week or two it will be ridiculous.

I love the fact that this recipe was basically an accident and it turned out so great.
